Powder Laundry Detergent Not Dissolving

It’s annoying when powdered laundry detergent soap doesn’t dissolve completely. However, I’ve devised a pretty good method to making sure it usually does. My method works best for top loading washing machines. Before putting any clothes into the washer, I put the soap towards the back only (where the water that falls out will hit it instantly). After adding the soap, I then put a small amount of vinegar in there (vinegar is good for killing any smells in laundry as well), as this will help dissolve the soap a little faster. I then turn the water setting to hot and let it fill up about two to four inches. If I’m washing dark clothes I then turn it to cold and let it fill up halfway or more so that the water temperature drops. I find that the cheapest laundry detergent brands like Foca and Roma (that you can get at Wal-Mart) pretty much require this method. Another thing that helps is to make sure that the soap doesn’t have any clumps, balls or huge masses stuck together. If it does break them down or smash them before adding vinegar or turning on the water. Another thing I’ve noticed is that Wal-Mart is pretty good about showing cost per ounce on grocery items, but when it comes to laundry detergent they don’t. Bring a calculator with you, but from what I’ve found its hard to beat the Roma and Foca bags of detergent in price.

If you are looking for a drying rack that can handle huge bath towels the Honey Can Do Heavy Duty Gullwing Drying Rack (model DRY-01610) is what I’ve found to be best. It’s sturdy enough to hold 5 damp towels on one side without tipping over, so you don’t have to balance it out as you put them on. It’s possible to adjust the angle of each “wing” and there are shoe holders (they can be taken off) and a removable mesh as well. When you are done it will easily fold up and go under your bed or sofa.

Honey-Can-Do Commercial Drying Rack

I recently bought a Honey-Can-Do Commercial Drying Rack (chrome model# dry-01234) for drying laundry because it’s become bothersome to have to wait and spend what I think is too much to dry my towels at the laundry mat. I find that it’s sturdy enough for big bath towels, but can only do five without them touching each other. The other spaces I put medium towels, washcloths or athletic socks. Bath towels will dry hard, but perhaps that is because I do it indoors and it takes over 24hrs for them to dry. Mine was missing a rubber cap for one of the leg stands, but I emailed info@honeycando.com and was sent two by mail quickly. The reason I choose their brand was simply because the fact that they seem to monitor the reviews and feedback they get on Amazon and have a limited lifetime guarantee. The rack folds up easily to store under your bed or in the closet. It will also fit inside your bathtub if you are really low on space when you need to dry items. I suppose you could dry things on hangers on the shower rod, but they really won’t hold too much weight. I put a few shirts on mine already and then use hangers on top of door hooks or door entrances to dry my synthetics and denim jeans (so they don’t shrink and fade in the dryer).
