Zest Soap Sucks

I’m sure I’m not the only one that has noticed that Zest soap dissolves with even 1 drop of water on it. If you have a bar of this in your soap dish by the water faucet for washing your hands, its worthless. Its worthless even if you have little grates that let water drain out the bottom of the dish. As soon as this soap gets wet it dissolves really bad and wont last a week. While all soap will dissolve and get really soft in water this brand is the worst I’ve seen for this. I won’t make the mistake of getting this brand again.

I’ve noticed that they fixed the formula so it doesn’t dissolve instantly in water anymore, although there are probably some cases of the bad formula out there.

I found the following two snippets on their website

Since 1958, Zest has been a leader in personal cleansing with a commitment to improving consumers’ lives.  As a result, Zest launched an Ergonomic shape soap in January, 2007 that created multiple benefits for consumers:

Ergonomic Shape is Easy to Hold: – The exciting aesthetic design of the Ergonomic Shape results in great lather and is practical for your shower.

As far as I can tell that’s only 1 benefit. Personally, I’ve found it harder to hold.

Did you change Zest Bars?

All Zest bars are now made with synthetic ingredients. They’re 100% soap and have a new “surf” shape. I hope you’ll give new Zest a try!

Guess that proves they changed the forumula.

  4. 4 · Agree says:

The new shape is terrible. If it stays this way I will be changing brands (after using Zest for 40 years.)

  5. 5 · syd says:

    The shape sucks.

  6. 6 · Anonymous says:

I’ve used Zest bar soap for years. The shape of the new Zest bar is causing me to have second thoughts as to whether or not I wish to continue using this product. The new shape of the Zest bar soap is difficult to deal with when taking a bath. I’ve also noticed that the new bar doesn’t last as long as the old.

  7. 7 · Anonymous says:

I thought I might have been the only one to dislike the new shape of the Zest bar soap. Not.
I will not buy this brand of soap again. I can’t hold onto it. It sucks.

  8. 8 · DLD says:

Zest changes its fragrances too often. When I get used to one, the one
I prefered over all of the offerings changes. I used to love the one called
White Water, but it changed its name to something else, and then finally to
Clean Moisture. All of them were good, but in less than a year, it’s no
longer available. Personally, I don’t like to leave the house smelling like a
piece of fruit or the ocean. I want a nice, clean smelling white bar that
doesn’t leave an aroma behind. I’m thinking about changing brands, too,
even though I have used Zest for many decades. Why can’t they leave
    well enough alone?

  9. 9 · blogger says:

Its all about not letting the product get old. That’s why Tide always has a new improved version every few months and why pizza places come out with a new type of pizza.

  10. 10 · Beverly says:

Hate the new shape agree with all the above.

  11. 11 · Beverly says:

Just change it back to the old shape

  12. 12 · Beverly says:

    do it

  13. 13 · gmr says:

The new shape is disfunctional. After decades of using Zest, if the original shape is not restored, I will begin using another product.

  14. 14 · rebbles says:

i like the new shape of your bar soap.it is so awesome. my kids love it. everytime we go to the store thats the first thing they look for. and i constantly have to buy them one even though we have some at the house.thanks.they actually look forward to taking a shower.

  15. 15 · Jim Paliani says:

The new shape SUCKS, SUCKS, SUCKS !!!!!!!!
I’ve been using Zest for 37 years !! First started in the Navy in 1969. Great smell, clean feeling and NO SOAP SCUM !!!
Now, some corporate genius in R&D decided to make it “BETTER”.

They should break his fingers. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.
You will be losing a very valued customer.

We have used Zest for over 30 years and loved the Whitewater Fresh one. I especially loved no soap scum! Can’t believe they discontinued such a great product! I agree with the above comments on the new fragrances. I have no idea what kind of soap we will be using now but it won’t be Zest!

  17. 17 · Rosann says:

Iit aggrevates me that Zest does not make a white bar that is widely available. I also do not like the smell of fruit or oceans in my soap. I called customer service. They said the only White bar we now make is Moisture Clean and it is only available at Walmart. I went to the only Walmart in our area and they do not carry it. I am switching to Dove!

  18. 18 · Anonymous says:

I just sent an e-mail to the Zest Corporation. I cannot find the original scented, white Zest (most recently “Clean Moisture”) we have always loved. I am so sensitive to fragrances and just loved the fresh, clean scent of the original white Zest. I bought a competitor’s brand last week, hoping we could find a reasonable substitute, but we all could smell our “fragrance” during Easter services! I am so hoping the company will immediately bring back the original white, “Clean Moisture” Zest and that Wal-Mart will begin stocking it again SOON!

  19. 19 · R&J says:

We have used Zest soap for nearly 50 years. the only BIG complaint that we have is the new shape of the bars.

  20. 20 · AB says:

White water, Clean linen, clean moisture… no longer available. Zest is loosing a lot of customers.

  21. 21 · Brenda says:

Very much miss clean moisture, please bring it back it’s the only soap I’m not allergic to.

  22. 22 · Anonymous says:

I have a terrible time finding soaps that I’m not allergic to!!!! When I found Zest whitewater fresh I was in soap heaven!!!! Please, please, please start making it again. It didn’t leave a film on my shower so therefore I know that it didn’t leave a film on my body. When I couldn’t find the whitewater fresh, I started using linen fresh. Now you have discontinued it. Please bing it back.

  23. 23 · Jim says:

I’m through with ZEST. I have used it for years and recently bought a new stock for the bathroom. Get my surprise when
I open a box and found this crappy thing they called a bar aof soap. I am on my third bar and HATE it with a passion also it dissappears in no time. They not only changed the design but must have changed the ingredients also. This is another IMPROVEMENT for PROFIT not the consumer. Well! They lost me as purchaser!! And, from this BLOG i gather they have lost many more and I hope it hits them where it hurts.

  24. 24 · Laurie says:

I’m cutting to the chase……bring back the white bars of zest! Stop trying to change things. It was great before!

I totally agree with all the comments others have made. I was hoping I could order on line, like a case!

Customer service has depleted in the US and I’m discussed. Businesses need to listen to the people, and address there requests, and concerns.

  25. 25 · Tony says:

Whitewater Zest was the best and you have messed up a good thing! I’m working on finding a new brand. You need to bring it back!

  26. 26 · Mark in WI says:

I, too, grew up with Zest and when they came out with Whitewater Zest it was my soap for life. Then it disappeared. I won’t use fruity soap or perfumy soap and the change in shape just added certainty to the fact that I have to buy a different brand now. Another of life’s simple pleasures gone.

  27. 27 · lost purchaser says:

I totally agree with most of the above comments, bring back the original zest please. The new shape is terrible to hold onto and no, ithe new bar definately does not last as long as the original one. I too will be changing brands.

  28. 28 · Anonymous says:

Linen Fresh Zest is at Big Lots.
I just wiped out a couple stores in Phoenix area.

  29. 29 · Frank says:

Has anyone noticed that the NEW IMPROVED Zest is 4.0 ounces, whereas the OLD Zest was 4.5 ounces?

It looks like the same soap material, & same color; the box is the same size but the “Zest” marking is slightly bigger.

    Improved? For whom?

Improved 12.5 % for their profit margin it would seem.

  30. 30 · Illinik says:

I agree with all of the above. Why mess with a good thing? Bring back white ZEST. Thanks.

  31. 31 · Anonymous says:

Please, bring back the Whitewater fresh Zest!! The others are too scummy.

  32. 32 · White Zest Lover says:

The white Zest was the absolute best soap EVER! And now we can’t find it. After reading all these other comments, I know we can stop trying their new “improved” scents – they are just not the same. The shape of the new bars is kind of strange, but, heck, I wouldn’t mind this new shape if was the old white Zest soap formula we all knew and loved.

If there is a soap god out there, please…bring it back. I’m not too proud to beg.

  33. 33 · Linnen Fresh ZEST says:

I agree! I have used Whitewater Zest, then they changed it to Linnen Fresh. I have used this soap, for year’s, since they came out with it. I love the clean smell and it didn’t leave a film on your body and it’s the only soap I would buy and use.

What am I supposed to do now? Please bring it back. It had to be poor advertising, because it sure wasn’t the product! I hate the fruity smells zest has come up with! Please listen to your faithful customer’s and bring it back!

  34. 34 · Anonymous says:

It sounds like we most all agree, Whitewater fresh was wonderful. Please Zest, bring it back. You are losing customers who are faithful to your product.

  35. 35 · darlene says:

bring back the WHITE bars !!! do not like all the fragrance soaps…used white zest since early 1980’s….now cannot find.should have left PERFECTION ALONE

  36. 36 · Peggy says:

I agree on the white Zest. Aqua is OK because it doesn’t leave a soap film but I WANT the white Zest back. Hey, Coca-Cola had to bring back the original formula why not Procter & Gamble? Unfortunately changing soap brands doen’t hurt them since they make 90% of all the brands anyway! I have a colostomy and have to be very careful which brand of soap I use. Please, Please, bring it back! I don’t even care what name you give it just go back to the Whitewater Fresh or Linen formula! and the easier to use shape too!

  37. 37 · Anonymous says:

As a very satisfied, long time user of Zest, I include my request to bring back Whitewater Fresh (and to go back to the original bar shape!) P&G, listen to your loyal customers, or some day we may find a replacement and it will be your loss. You have a great product. Please stop tampering with a good thing!

  38. 38 · Dianne says:

I have sensitive skin and Whitewater Zest was the only one for me. I started using Zest in Hight School when I could by what I want for gym classes. I no longer buy Zest soap after 40 years of use. Please, please bring back my soap!!!!

  39. 39 · stan says:

i have used zest all my life cause its the only one that doesn’t make me break out and he only one that doesn’t leave a soapy feeling after rinsing. now i can’t find the original zest i have loved for years and this aquapure sux, and so does every other why the hell can’t they keep the original available for those who have bought it for decades? bring it back damn it or i am gonna just wash with the garden hose or jump in the pool.

  40. 40 · mike says:

I went to WalMart last night trying to buy some plain white Zest soap. The cartons had all these fancy names, but nobody could tell what was inside. Got home with green soap by mistake. Should I tear all the packaging off just to see what’s inside?

  41. 41 · Anne says:

My parents used white zest and I have continued it for the 40 years I’ve been married. I’m distressed that it is no longer made. The other Zest products don’t compare. Why Why Why would P&G stop making a perfectly good, widely used product? On a smaller scale, this is comparable to changing the Coke formula – a poor decision.

  42. 42 · Ellen says:

I went on to the Internet to try to find Whitewater Zest only to have my worst fears confirmed: You don’t make it any more! Why not? My skin is so sensitive and it didn’t make me break out. I also have a problem with strong scents, and the white Zest was perfect. We need it back! Please!

  43. 43 · Anonymous says:

i don’t like the new ones either. scents change constantly and this past one i bought smells like a cucumber. it is making my face greasy by the time i get out of the shower and it is starting to make it break out. i agree–why can’t they leave well enough alone or at least have available the original scent.

  44. 44 · Maria says:

Please,Please,Please bring back the white bar. I donot understand why the fragrance was changed. I have searched everywhere for the original scent, but can’t find them anywhere. The new scents are to strong, they desolve quickly and i am allergic to them!!!!

  45. 45 · Sandy says:

I agree with all of the above asking for the Whitewater Fresh bars to be brought back. I don’t even care if it’s in the old bar form or the new one. Also package your bars with a true picture of the color of what is inside. At least we have a chance of coming close to what we are looking for.

  46. 46 · Nikki says:

I hated the change in shaped and it’s true that it disappeares a lot quicker than the original shape, but I eventually got used to that. WHAT I HAVE NOT GOTTEN USED TO IS THE CHANGE IN FORMULA!!!! It is the worst! It now leaves a film/residue all over your body. I agree with everyone listed above, I will be looking for a new soap to use. Something that will rinse off clean like Zest USED to do. What a crying shame…..

  47. 47 · Andrew says:

Zest sucks now it leaves a white residue like all the other soaps!!
    Im not using it anymore!!

  48. 48 · Captain says:

My doctor suggested zest in 1962..!!!…….I was 12……..the formula would rinse away completely…..just like the commercials…….remember the ”clear” shower door………no soap scum……………etc….etc…..zest-fully clean !!!………all other soap inflamed my wonderful eczema……….many have mentioned their own health reasons for zest, and p&g has ignored this……….the original blue aqua was so clean you could use it for shampoo…………the traveling business public, and airline crews, including me, even long haul truckers, all used it as the total soap, the total package…worked great anywhere in any water………..and long before rear window defrosters zest would even keep your glass from fogging up in your car……..this was a terrific, one of a kind product, that was well appreciated, even loved, as one of life’s simple ,dependable, quality pleasures…p&g should be spanked for this…they made the best product of all of them and now it is awful…substandard, sub-par, these new zests don’t just match other soaps, they are worse…someone has mentioned ”new coke”…people were fired over that…p&g needs to learn this lesson…you don’t sabotage the product that got you here, and you don’t turn away from the customers that got you here, on top of that. Bring back the original formula.!!!!

  50. 50 · Vickie says:

I don’t care what color or shape it is or what smell it has. I just want the original formula back with NO SOAP SCUM!!!! Remember the ads where they would dip a mirror in water with zest (clear) and in water with another brand (soap scum)? I took my own bar of Zest everywhere, hotels, etc. I’ve used it for over 30 years but no more. My family and I will be searching for another brand.
