Google Video and YouTube Comparison

Google Video:

  • You Can upload through the website or use the Google Video Uploader.
  • You can make your video downloadable as a GVP file that plays in the Google Video Player.
  • Can embed the video on your site (with the option to play on page load or not).

  • You Can upload video from your computer, mobile phone or record it from your webcam through Flash.
  • You can embed the video on your site, but the user must click for it to play. If the user clicks on the black part of the screen they are taken to YouTube and then it plays. If they click on the Gray play button it will play on your site.

So if you want to host a long movie online, Google Video is the way to go. You can then put it on your site and not worry about people going to the Google Video site (although there is a link to it, its visible and easy to see it). However if you want more people to see it and comment on it, YouTube is the way to go.
