I recently got a new Windows XP installation cd with SP2b (it has Service Pack 2 plus some more updates) however it still required 77 updates and that did not include IE7. Not only that but that was only the critical updates. I don’t know why Microsoft doesn’t release SP3 already or at least make new cds with SP2c. I also noticed that Excite was the default search engine in Internet Explorer 7, not sure why. I don’t think it was like that on another install I’ve done before. I can only imagine if you did a fresh install of XP with just SP2 you’d probably have over 100 updates to do.
